(Program Coordinator - Local Campaigns Grant)
Job Overview: Rainbow Pride Youth Alliance (RPYA) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Coordinator to lead the "Say It Out Loud" (SIOL) campaign. This campaign aims to reimagine systems that support behavioral health and wellness for children, youth, and their caregivers/families in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. The focus is on reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and promoting help-seeking behaviors, particularly among LGBTQ+ youth and their families in the Inland Region. The Coordinator will play a crucial role in leading youth-led initiatives and must have a deep understanding of policy issues affecting local youth, such as youth homelessness and forced outing policies. Collaborating closely with local partners, the Coordinator will ensure that the campaign is culturally competent and effectively addresses the needs of the community.
Location: Inland Empire
Term: Full-time, non-exempt position, Temporary grant funded position through June 30, 2025, possible 1 year extension.
Salary: Prorated annual salary of $55,000, payable bimonthly

Supervision: The Program Coordinator reports to the Special Assistant for Media Relations & Advocacy and provides direct supervision and guidance to campaign staff and volunteers as it relates to outreach, education, and public engagement activities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Public Awareness and Community Outreach Services
- Coordinate and execute public education and change campaigns focusing on reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and encouraging help-seeking behaviors among LGBTQ+ youth and their families.
- Lead youth in outreach efforts to historically unserved, underserved, and inappropriately served communities, including African Americans/Black, Native Americans, Asian and Pacific Islanders, Latinos, and LGBTQ+ populations.
- Ensure all communications and outreach materials are culturally relevant, designed with input from youth and caregivers, and meet the specific needs of the targeted populations.
- Utilize methods such as door-to-door canvassing, community event engagement, phone banking, and social media to reach the target audience effectively.
Promote Youth Led, Youth Co-Created Campaign Materials and Messages
- Implement in conjunction with Youth Fellows approved campaign materials and messages across various platforms, including social media, newsletters, blogs, and public speaking engagements.
- Adapt outreach strategies to address emergent issues and ensure the campaign remains responsive to the needs of the community.
Meetings, Workshops, and Communications
- Participate in required meetings and workshops with CDPH OHE, PHI (Public Health Institute), and other partners to coordinate efforts and share best practices.
- Regularly report on campaign progress, challenges, and successes to ensure alignment with grant objectives and state guidelines.
Qualifications and Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public administration, project management, Public Policy, Social Work or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in public health, community outreach, or related fields, particularly in LGBTQ+ and youth-focused initiatives.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of supervising staff and managing projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to social justice, equity, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights.
- Previous experience working with youth, leading public change initiatives or working on electoral campaigns is a plus.
