Meals on Wheels Orange County is the largest nonprofit provider of nutrition and supportive services for at-risk older adults. It is committed to erasing hunger and loneliness for at-risk older adults through nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks, and keeping families together through day services. Through its critical services, the organization delivers nearly 2 million meals to 20,000 at-risk older adults each year throughout Central and North Orange County. Meals on Wheels Orange County is a dba of Community SeniorServ, Inc.
Entry Level Position: Part time position (up to 25 hours per week)
Location: Oasis Senior Center, Newport Beach, Ca
We are excited to share the hourly rate range for this position is $16.00 - $17.50 hour, exclusive of fringe benefits. If you are hired at MOWOC, your final compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience in addition to internal pay. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for oversight of the Home Delivered Meal Program based out of a specific site. Responsibilities include receiving meals, packing meals according to route assignment, greeting volunteer drivers, managing volunteer schedules, delivering meals in personal or company vehicle, recruiting volunteers, maintaining records and submitting reports, and performing other job related tasks as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for ordering, receiving, and packaging home delivered meals.
- Assists with recruiting, training, and monitoring volunteer delivery drivers.
- Loads and delivers meals to participants in an assigned geographic area daily in a timely and safe manner. All perishable food must be maintained at 40°ree;F or lower temperature at all times. Packs coolers with adequate amounts of ice.
- Provides regular social contact with participants during delivery.
- Reports client-specific problems to the appropriate Case Manager as soon as possible. Reports any client related problems of emergency nature to Supervisor immediately. Completes APS referrals when needed as required as a Mandated Reporter.
- Updates directions for client delivery by route.
- Takes food temperatures or monitor those who take food temperatures as required and maintain temperature control charts. Documents all undelivered foods at end of day. Disposes of unsafe foods and return "safe" foods to proper storage area.
- Ensures that coolers are cleaned up and stored appropriately at the end of each day.
- Practices safe operating procedures and observes all safety regulations and precautions as prescribed by Community SeniorServ. Operates vehicle in a safe and lawful manner. Provides a safe work environment by communicating problems and suggestions for safe operation.
- Maintains records and information, submit daily communication forms and prepare accurate and timely reports related to meal delivery, volunteer hours and if required, vehicle maintenance.
- Responsible for the proper handling of meal donations according to Community SeniorServ policy guidelines.
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required. Performs other duties and assignments related to this job as deemed necessary and appropriate.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Degree or equivalent comparable work experience preferred.
- Some experience supervising and directing staff and volunteers (volunteer work included).
- Must be able to work well with volunteers, staff, and clients of all ages.
- Be able to read, interpret, and implement regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Must be able to maintain complex department records.
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and in writing, required.
- Must have own transportation (if required), valid California Driver's License and auto insurance as required by state law.
- Must pass post-offer physical.
- ServSafe or Food Handlers certification within 90 days of employment as determined by management.
