What will you be doing?

 

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Product Owner to join the WWT IT Organization. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Agile Release Trains (ARTs), to define, prioritize, and drive the delivery of features and functionality that align with our strategic technology goals, the needs of our internal stakeholder teams, and our customer needs. This role will involve active engagement, collaboration, and relationship management with internal stakeholders at leadership levels, requiring exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate productive discussions, provide comprehensive updates on project progress, and proactively help evaluate, prioritize, and guide our IT strategy for stakeholders.  The successful candidate should also demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, in-depth expertise in IT product lifecycle management, and the ability to drive innovation and foster a culture of excellence within the team and across the organization. 

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Product Strategy: Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy that aligns with the overall business objectives and Scaled Agile principles. Successfully conducts day-to-day work and solves complex issues in specific technical engineering areas; serves as a guide to others by sharing and helping junior associates in their duties.
  • Product Backlog Management: Create, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog, ensuring that features and user stories are well-defined and acceptance criteria are clear. Understand the software development lifecycle and how various agile engineering practices can be used (e.g., in planning, requirements analysis, design, coding, unit testing, acceptance testing).
  • Solution Lifecycle Management:  Research new features and functionality for in-place strategic platforms and software and drive collaboration with our Stakeholder, Solution Architecture, and Development teams to determine roadmap impacts. 
  • Customer and Market Research: Conduct market research, gather customer feedback, and analyze data to identify customer needs, market trends, and opportunities. Demonstrates an awareness of and curiosity about emerging technology trends and best practices. 
  • Release Planning: Collaborate with Agile Release Trains (ARTs) to plan and prioritize features and enhancements for upcoming releases, ensuring alignment with the product roadmap and business objectives.
  • User Story Refinement: Work with Agile teams to refine user stories, provide context, and ensure the development teams deeply understand product requirements. Assists in software development projects where agile engineering methods (e.g., Extreme Programming, Feature Driven Development) are applied.
  • Product Metrics and KPIs: Define and monitor key product metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and make data-driven decisions. Creates metrics to monitor performance across multiple teams and ensure efficient execution and effective delivery of work.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders, including customers, development teams, and business leaders, to gather input, share product updates, and manage expectations. Continuously expands knowledge regarding the company infrastructure and user requirements.
  • Release Validation: Participate in validating product releases to ensure they meet quality and functionality standards. Develops and tests standard software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement within the Scaled Agile framework, actively participating in retrospectives and adapting processes as needed. Assists with conducting tests and inspections of products, services, solutions, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Compliance: Ensure the product complies with industry standards, regulations, and quality assurance requirements. Performs routine information security responsibilities, following standard policies and procedures; reports more difficult issues to senior associates.
  • Culture: Cultivate and foster a positive work environment that endorses the WWT’s Core Values.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in coordinating the efforts of cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, business analysts, executives, customers, product, and excel in harnessing the collective efforts of these diverse roles to achieve unified business objectives.
  • Possesses a comprehensive grasp of interdisciplinary teamwork, demonstrating the ability to seamlessly collaborate across various departments including Finance, Human Resource, and Solutions Consulting & Engineering (SC&E).
  • Experience in mapping business requirements to technology solutions.
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner in a Scaled Agile environment
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Experience with Product Owner tools and software

Work Experience  

A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in a related field
