Job DescriptionSummary:The Phlebotomist - Rounds Team is responsible for the collection, handling and transport of blood specimens for the Fatima Hospital inpatient units as well as community settings. The Rounds Team Phlebotomist performs a high number of specimen collections during peak collection times throughout the hospital or other location.

Education: High school diploma or GED with education in Phlebotomy required.

Licensure: Phlebotomy certification required.

Experience: Three to six months experience as a Phlebotomist.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines.
  • Demonstrated customer service skill.
  • Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English, required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers/other departments.
  • Ability to work independently and identify tasks that need to be completed.
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology preferred.
  • Demonstrates Phlebotomy skills and specimen packaging and handling.
  • Maintains confidentiality of Protected Health Information.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.


Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves a variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, climbing, twisting, stretching, and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 50 lbs. Traveling to off-site locations to collect specimens.
