POSITIONM DETAILS-
Minimal Experience: 2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Travelers must live 100 miles away from any Monument Health facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (REQUIRED)
Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing\
HOSPITAL HIGHLIGHTS-
Beds: 39 MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU mixed unit
Patient Types: Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include but are not limited to: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this given to permanent staff
Patient Ratios: RN: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 (rare) acuity dependent
Support on the Unit: CNA: 1-2 Nurse Aide s per unit + mobility float aide, Charge nurse: 2 CRN s oversee all ICUs, Phlebotomy? Yes, peripheral blood draws only, IV/VAT Team? ICU CRNs place all midlines, Resource Nurse: Yes, staffing dependent, RT: Yes, 24/7Physicians: 3 Intensivists on days, 2 on nights + APP on nights.
Charting System: Epic REQUIRED FOR ED ICU, Alaris, Omnicell.
REQUIRED SKILLS-
Epic experience
Comfortability working a 48hr/week contract this is not negotiable for this unit
Experience with the above-mentioned patients
ICU RN qualified to float to EDPCU RN qualified to float to ICU
Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, strong critical thinking and assessment skills, working well in team setting, comfortable in fast pace setting with all critical patients.
Impella, IABP and CRRT strongly preferred.
OTHER DETAILS-
Floating: Not common unless overstaffed. Could float to any adult floor including Medsurg/Tele with 1:4 ratio. C
Orientation: (facility and unit)Hospital orientation(1) 12 hour shift and (1) 8 hour shift in the ICU
Weekend rotation: Every other
Will they be on call? No
Holiday Expectations: No RTO during holidays
Approval of time off? Up to 7 days must extend to accommodate a full 13-week contract.
No RTO during Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August every year)
Scrub Color: Navy
