Essential Function

The Sr Software Engineer will be responsible for Supporting Reddwerks application and gathering technical requirements, design, coding, testing, debugging and end-user training and documentation for future WMS/WES Technology upgrades. Along with being responsible for both functional SDLC tasks and technical development. Work with end users, Third Parties, other IT staff and management to meet these requirements. Familiar with variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures that may be specific to a hardware platform or development language. Provides production support as directed by management. May occasionally lead and direct the work of others.

Primary Duties

30% 

  • Resolve L1 & L2 Reddwerks System/Software issues.
  • Primary point of contact for Reddwerks System/Software support.
  • Work with Managed services support team to provide 24/7 Reddwerks Support to our Distribution centers.

50%

  • Learn new Warehouse Management and/or Warehouse Execution systems and technology. 
  • Drive the design, optimization, and implementation of Warehouse Management software and/or Warehouse Execution Software solutions utilizing industry best practices and process methodologies.
  • Lead solution design for implementation of Warehouse Management Software and/or Warehouse Execution software solutions.
  • Develops solutions by describing requirements in a work-flowchart and diagram; studying system capabilities; analyzing alternative solutions; preparing system specifications.
  • Works on identifying configuration changes that can be made to meet the requirements. Provides feedback on configuration solution over custom solutions.
  • Create and modify extensions to personalize features or functions with Warehouse Management System/Warehouse Execution system which includes 
  • Complies with existing documentation requirements required for the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Conduct and/or guide system integrations between Warehouse Management Software and/or Warehouse Execution software with Host systems.

  • Review and facilitate Testing and deployment phases of the project. 
  • Open for travel up to 20% of the time for design discussions and support Go-Lives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 3+ years Reddwerks Software application support and experience with supply chain systems is required. 
  • Experience in SQL and reading real-time event-based log files
  • Technically diverse across Windows/Linux Operating Systems environments, MS SQL Server databases, Middleware, basic networking, scripting (SQL, Python, PowerShell) 
  • Experience with programming languages: Java or C
  • Experience with REST Web Services/API calls
  • Working knowledge of any Git/Github/Jenkins/Azure DevOps
  • SQL Service Broker / JSON expertise
  • Product development experience in Warehouse Management Systems and/or Warehouse Execution Systems
  • Past experience as a WMS/WES SME with knowledge of Inbound Processing, Outbound Processing, Physical Inventory, RF Transactions, cycle counting, general warehousing, and MHE/Automation integration.
  • Open for travel up to 20% of the time for design discussions and support Go-Lives.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
