The role you’ll contribute:



The Medical Assistant, under general supervision, provides appropriate care to patients as well as follows AdventHealth service standards. This includes safely and effectively greeting patients, obtaining clinical information, financial and demographic information. Responsible for assisting providers during treatment and examination and may assist with procedures and medication administration as ordered by the provider. Performs office duties as needed; which includes but is not limited to, verifying insurance, collecting copays and scheduling necessary appointments. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.



The value you’ll bring to the team:



o Performs initial response-screening following protocols under the direction of the supervising physician.



o Cleans, prepares, and maintains examinations rooms and treatment areas. Prepares patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.



o Prepares specimens for outside lab testing, as ordered by the physician.



o Checks sample medications for overstocking and date of expiration. Labels samples according to protocol before they are dispensed to patients. Logs in, and disposes of, sample medications according to policy.



o Schedules patients’ inpatient/outpatient admissions and procedures.



o May be required to travel as needed to fulfill staffing needs.



The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:



Minimum qualifications :




  • High school graduate or equivalent required

  • Must have a current, valid BLS

  • Must have either:

  • 1 year of minimum Medical Assistant work experience, OR

  • Have completed an accredited MA school program with completion of an externship

  • Must be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following:

  • American Association of Medical Assistants (“AAMA”) for Certified Medical Assistants

  • American Medical Certification Association (“AMCA”) for Clinical Medical Assistant Certification

  • American Medical Technologists (“AMT”) for Registered Medical Assistant

  • American Registry of Medical Assistants ("ARMA") for Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

  • National Association for Health Professionals (“NAHP”) for Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant

  • National Center for Competency Testing (“NCCT”) for National Certified Medical Assistant

  • National Health Career Association (“NHA”) for Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
