Job Description

The Pace® MN-Field Air Sampling team based in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a motivated individual to join their team, as an entry level Field Tech.  This quality driven employee will be responsible for assisting in the collection and analysis of air emissions samples from our industrial clients.  This stack tester would be utilizing a wide variety of scientific equipment and techniques for use in determining pollution prevention control and environmental health and safety compliance.   If you are looking to start your rewarding career as a steward of our environment and public health, please apply today

Pace’s Environmental Field Services Division utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and their team of experts to provide comprehensive emissions testing services to our nationwide network of industrial manufacturers, consulting engineers, and government agencies.

 

Job Duties:

  • The tech will provide stack testing services for the Pace MN Field Services Division to clients in most of the 50 states, including Alaska.  
  • This position involves working at elevated heights on stacks and rooftops mobilizing equipment by carrying or roping, requiring physical strength during these mobilizations.
  • The tech will Perform a variety of sampling methods used for measuring particulates, metals, acid gases, sulfur gases, hydrocarbon gases, volatile and semi-volatile organics emissions.
  • Perform field sampling in accordance with EPA, NIOSH, and OSHA methodologies, field service QA manual, and client directed objectives.
  • A motivated individual would interact daily with clients, promote cooperation and teamwork among staff and follow Pace policies and standard operating procedures.

Schedule:

  • Hours vary due to client scheduling; typically Monday - Friday with high probability of overtime and occasional weekend hours.
  • Requires travel/overnights, up to or exceeding 50% of the time
  • Capable and willing to work outdoors in all varying conditions and at elevated heights. 

Education:

  • Must have High School Diploma. AS or BS degree preferred (Environmental Science or related field is ideal) 
  • Experience in related studies or work is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 

Requirements:

  • A valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.  Experience pulling a trailer is preferred.
  • Drug Free
  • Physical requirements include, walking, bending, carrying and climbing. Must also have hand and finger dexterity, and the ability to lift 75 lbs. repeatedly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. 
  • Must be comfortable with heights, experience with heights preferred
  • The individual should be self-motivated, ambitious, hardworking, and able to work independently with an eye for attention to detail. 
  • Must be able to multitask efficiently and work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Current and applicable computer and mathematical skills.  Able to complete basic calculations, compute ratios and percentages.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; experience in related work is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. One year of experience in a lab or environmental setting is preferred.

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
