The position will assist with seeding, pollinating, transplanting plants, watering harvesting tissue sampling, and data collection.  The ideal candidate will have previous lab, or horticulture experience and has stable work history.

 

Job Title: Greenhouse Research Assistant

Location: Johnston, IA

Pay Range: $21

 

What’s the Job?

  • Daily greenhouse plant care, including seeding, pollinating, transporting, watering, harvesting, and seed handling for various crops.
  • Cut and store samples of plant tissue and delivery of laboratory analysis. 
  • Assist with experiments, collecting data, and maintaining records.
  • Perform routine greenhouse sanitation tasks like discarding regulated material and removing waste 

What’s Needed?

  • HS Diploma/GED. AA/BA preferred in agriculture, horticulture, plant physiology or molecular biology, or 2 years of equivalent experience. 
  • Strong attention to detail and basic computer skills
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, extensive walking, and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Able to work in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present year-round

 What’s in it for me?

  • 1st shift hours: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Mon-Fri with rotational weekend work every 6th weekend.
  • Weekly pay
  • Bonus: $500 paid after 6 months, $1000 paid after 12 months.
