Fred Williams, an HVAC mechanical contractor, is looking for an Estimator to perform take-offs from construction drawings and calculate the costs of labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor quote evaluation in accordance with established processes and procedures.

*Job Responsibilities:*
* Review plans and specifications to thoroughly understand the scope of a project and the project specific requirements relative to estimating the cost of the work.
* Prepare estimates by calculating a complete takeoff of entire mechanical systems for Plan/Spec, Industrial, and Design/Build work.
* Attend Pre-Bid Meetings when required.
* Conduct site visits and surveys to verify scope and apply it in the cost estimating process.
* Maintain files of working documents to back-up estimate calculations. Files should include current and accurate pricing information from suppliers, applicable equipment cuts and qualified subcontractor quotations.
* Review design options and recommend value engineering alternatives based on cost and engineering quality.
* Solicit vendor and subcontractor quotations and review them for scope compliance.
* Populate complete estimates utilizing the Estimate Summary spreadsheet.
* Advise the Chief Estimator / President on cost and schedule fluctuations, changes in material availability, or other factors affecting construction.
* Review the detail of an estimate with management, prior to submission of our Company’s proposal.
* Work with Construction Managers and Owners to provide complete estimates.
* Work with the Preconstruction Team and Support Operations with Cost Estimating.
* Participate in project descope meetings.
* Develop budgets for construction phase services based on progress design documents.
* Maintain cost databases.
* Provide estimates for change orders.
* Manage preconstruction RFI’s submitted and received on assigned project(s).
* Participate in turnover meetings to project management teams.
* Additional duties as assigned.

*Qualifications:*
* Minimum 5 years of mechanical estimating experience; large project, commercial/industrial cost estimating experience.
* Must have piping takeoff experience; sheet metal takeoff is a plus
* Proficient computer and software (e.g., QuoteSoft, Excel, Bluebeam, etc.) skills
* Knowledge of estimating via on-screen takeoff (QuoteSoft)
* Knowledge of MCAA WebLEM is preferred
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines, and prioritize responsibilities
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to be an effective member of a team, and be responsive to both internal and external customers
* Ability to create conceptual estimates for design/build projects is a plus
* Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus

*Education/Experience*
* Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Design, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred
