The Select Group is seeking an instructor to support a San Diego based Utility company. This Fleet Instructor will be brought on to support a fleet team that is currently being trained by one individual who is responsible for all new regulation trainings, putting together training manuals, classroom training, field training, back office administration, etc. They are looking to expand the team and bring on a technical person who understand the automative industry, and is looking to learn how to be an instructor as well as support with back office responsibilities for the department. Please note this role is ON SITE, in San Diego, California.

Fleet Instructor Must-Have Skills

  • 3-5+ years experience in automotive industry, specifically within maintenance/mechanics
  • Strong technical background and understanding of automotive systems - Rim and tires, hydraulic systems, engines, etc.
  • Experience working at a utility, municipality, rental company or something similar with variety of vehicles
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office suite proficiency not required but understanding of the applications
  • Has a positive attitude, willingness to support the team where needed
  • Required to lift up to 50lbs - no restrictions on ladders

Fleet Instructor Responsibilities

  • Facilitating and coordinating classroom led trainings for the fleet maintenance groups including but not limited to new hire classes, new maintenance regulations, driving skills/ pre-trip inspections for Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Developing and assisting with course materials/training manuals
  • Attending training sessions in the field across the service territory
  • Participating in administrative tasks as needed

Fleet Instructor Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience leading classroom trainings/putting together training manuals
  • Cornerstone LMS experience
  • SAP/Ariba experience
