Title: Project Engineer

Location: Office Based in Madison, NJ, and/or New York City with weekly site visits to projects in Brooklyn, Northern New Jersey, and possibly Connecticut.

Reports to: Project Superintendents, Estimators, Project Managers, and Director of Construction.

Position Overview:

We are looking for an entry-level individual who is interested in pursuing a career in the Construction Industry; the person will be responsible for assisting onsite and office staff with a variety of tasks to help support ongoing Construction projects and prospective new projects. You will work for with clients like NBC Universal, Disney, NBC Sports, and A+E Networks. The role requires travel to job sites throughout New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Connecticut but the majority of the time will be spent in the Madison, New Jersey, or New York City office.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting Superintendents, Project Managers, and Estimators with their daily tasks as well as being allocated tasks of your own that require daily attention and follow-up across multiple projects. safety practices. Your responsibilities include assisting the aforementioned team members with the following tasks:

  • Establish site safety/site-office setup to ensure everything is ready when construction begins, which can include but is not limited to a logistics plan, how materials will arrive and exit a project site, project safety requirements, and an emergency/evacuation plan.
  • Complete required OSHA training (62-hour course) to obtain a NYC DOB SST Certificate.
  • Review and understand project schedule, assist Superintendents and Project Managers in maintaining a schedule.
  • Learn and understand Procore Construction software including being able to perform any tasks requested by the project team such as:

i. Create a project directory. ii. Submit Request for Information (RFIs).iii. Process Submittal and Shop Drawings inclusive of creating workflows. iv. Create daily job site reports. v. Create change events to track changes in the project scope.

  • Assist with creating and issuing subcontractor welcome letters, collect subcontractor insurance, and communicate project safety requirements.
  • Print and post all required/helpful OSHA/Safety signage; and permits on a permit board on active job sites.
  • Attend weekly project meetings and assist the team with creating meeting minutes.
  • Assist with Managing onsite laboring staff and record timesheets.
  • Provide daily onsite coverage for Superintendents when they take Personal Time off, Vacation, or are required to be on another job site.
  • Assist with generating close-out and permit matrix.
  • Assist Estimators with creating Request for Proposals (RFPs) and distributing them to Sub-Contractors.
  • Perform follow-ups with sub-contractors to ensure proposals are submitted timely.
  • Review and understand company insurance and contract requirements.
  • Assist the accounting department with collecting certificates of insurance and performing reviews of subcontractors' policies to confirm compliance.

Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

Experience:

  • This is an entry-level position so no experience is required but internship experience in the Engineering and/or Construction industry would be preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Project Suite.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a suitable form of transportation to and from job sites/offices.

Specific Skills:

  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to adapt communications; have strong verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently while managing multiple projects.

Salary: Starting at $72,000

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
