The Hoist & Winch business unit at Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Customer Quality Engineer. This individual acts as the primary customer point of contact for quality focused on improving satisfaction through quality improvement initiatives. The Principal Customer Quality Engineer serves as the customer's voice throughout the organization and leads a cross-functional team to resolve known issues and drive preventative actions to reduce quality escapes. This individual will work closely with Value Stream Leaders (VSLs) to ensure projects are completed on time and customers are satisfied. This position will be in a multi-disciplinary team environment and will need to be able to thrive in tackling challenges. There will be heavy customer interaction in this role to meet the needs and expectations of the customer.

What You Will Do:
  • Responsible for both Program and Product Quality Engineering.
  • Develops and leads implementation of solutions to nonconformities and to satisfy quality issues raised by customers.
  • Identifies and manages risk in product development primarily utilizing and driving PPAP core elements (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.).
  • Performs Escape management procedures, and root cause analysis, and recommends corrective action for design problems for internally produced products & processes.
  • Leads customer audits/assessments when requested.
  • Developing, modifying, applying, and maintaining quality evaluation, control systems, and protocols for materials being processed into partially finished or finished products. Works with product design and specification, and devises testing plans, methods, and equipment to assure the reliability of the product.
  • Collaborate internally to ensure quality standards are in effect. Ensures that projects and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives, and/or contracts.
  • Analyze and make recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities and/or design problems for internally produced products & processes for managing risk in product development.
  • Manage processes to ensure all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven In-depth knowledge of Quality Management System(s) and Root Cause Analysis tools.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal) must be able to summarize complicated technical topics quickly and concisely.
  • 5+ years in Aerospace with solid knowledge of Quality Assurance in production/manufacturing and new product developments.
  • FAA, EASA, and other regulatory authority knowledge with PMR / MRB, Corrective action methodology experience is desired.
  • Certified in the appropriate ASQ Body of Knowledge (CQE, CQA, CRE, CPA).
  • Ability to effectively lead a cross-functional team to drive quality improvement initiatives.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
