The Field Services Technician (FTTH) role involves providing technical support and maintenance for fiber optic and copper networks, with a focus on installations and repairs in customer homes or small business environments.



Location: Danville or Gretna, VA offices


Role Purpose

This position focuses on installing and maintaining network infrastructure and customer equipment.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain telephone, video, broadband, and special services over fiber and copper network.
  • Set up Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) connections, Wi-Fi configurations, and handle low-voltage wiring.
  • Install fiber and copper enclosures and perform inside wiring.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, using diagnostic tools such as OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) and TDR (Time-Domain Reflectometer
  • Perform fiber splicing with various splicing machine.
  • Restore services during outages and handle customer calls for service interruptions.
  • Drive company vehicles and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance.



Qualifications/ Education/Experience:

  • Associate degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic handling, broadband (DSL, FTTx), and 802.11 wireless network
  • Ability to work effectively in a technical, team-oriented environment and communicate effectively.
  • Must be proficient in fiber and copper color codes, splicing, and possess a solid understanding of test equipment.


Physical Requirements:

  • Physical strength to climb ladders, poles, and occasionally lift over 100 pounds.
  • Ability to perform tasks that involve stooping, crawling, and kneeling.
  • Must not be color-blind due to the need to identify fiber and copper color coders
  • This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in fiber optic installations and a strong commitment to customer service and safety.
