About the role: We are currently seeking an experienced PCS Engineer to join the team at our Centurion underground mine. Our Centurion mine is located 160 kilometres west of Mackay. For more information on Centurion visit (centurionmine.com.au) Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the purpose of this role is to develop and implement standards for PCS at Centurion Mine. The PCS Engineer manages and develops the plant control system, fault finds and rectifies issues in the system, and ensures the overall systems supports the efficient operation of the mine. Duties will include:
  • Supervision of contractors and Centurion personnel performing work pertaining to PCS functions
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations & statutory obligations.
  • Understand and apply relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Work with the Electrical Engineering Manager, Mine Manager, CHPP Superintendent and General Manager to ensure that production and other targets are achieved across the complex.
  • Installation, programming, maintenance, fault finding, repair, and continuous improvement of the Citect SCADA System.
  • Communication to appropriate personnel of scheduled maintenance and plant availability
  • Early identification of obstacles to achievement of budget & implementation of strategies to address.
  • Timely escalation of maintenance issues that impact production to the Electrical Engineering Manager
  • Installation, programming, maintenance, fault finding, repair and continuous improvement of Allen-Bradley equipment using Rockwell Automation software.
  • Installation, programming, maintenance, fault finding, repair and continuous improvement of communication systems including Ethernet, Controlnet and Modbus communication networks
  • Become involved in the development and implementation of short and long term strategies to achieve reliability and availability levels
  • Underground coal mining experience is preferable but will consider non-industry personnel with significant PCS experience in heavy industrial environments, or from a developer background. The lifestyle: This position is offered on a 9-day fortnight (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday) roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah) DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.       • Electrical background with high level of competence in PLC code development and SCADA development
      • Capable of developing standards for PCS and able to follow through with implementation. Strong track record of working within a robust change control framework.
      • Self-motivated with can do attitude to learn quickly and work autonomously.
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with exceptional customer service
