Millikin University invites applications for the next Director for the Center for Entrepreneurship. This is an administrative, exempt full-time position with the opportunity for joint appointment with equivalent faculty rank. Qualifications are an advanced degree in business and teaching experience at the college level. Experience in starting a successful enterprise is preferred. This position will have teaching responsibilities of two courses per academic year in Entrepreneurship, Management, or in the MBA program.

Millikin University seeks an individual who is passionate about entrepreneurship education, mentoring student-run and owned businesses, and collaborating with faculty and students across campus. The ideal candidate will also be engaged in the Decatur community to support small businesses and entrepreneurship education in area schools. Candidates are expected to embrace a teaching philosophy grounded in experiential learning consistent with an institution that extensively engages both its faculty and students in cooperative ventures with local businesses and organizations.

Millikin University’s Center for Entrepreneurship was established in 1997 to promote and support entrepreneurial education and collaboration with entrepreneurial networks. Since then, the Center has been recognized for outstanding entrepreneurship programs by international (GCEC) and national (USASBE) organizations and serves as an interdisciplinary center to promote and support the inclusion of entrepreneurial thinking into any discipline. The Center for Entrepreneurship is responsible for coordinating approximately 12 student-run ventures that are delivered within the curriculum and faculty-coached. Examples of student-run ventures range from a theatre production company to IT consulting to an art gallery. The Center for Entrepreneurship coordinates business start-up events for both students and community members to launch their ventures.
