Augusta ME, United States Experis Full time

Cybersecurity Coordinator (must have federal or State exp.)
Work Location: Position requires travel in Maine to multiple locations. MaineNH residents preferred. Can be remote when not traveling.
12+ month contract

Top 3 skills:
 Familiarity with federal and State cybersecurity programs and funding mechanisms.
 Experience working with local governments or public-sector organizations.
 Ability to identify and address gaps in cybersecurity resources effectively.

Job Summary: The Statewide Cybersecurity Coordinator is a critical role designed to enhance cybersecurity coordination and outreach across local governments and statewide partners. This position will focus on creating and maintaining a consistent approach to cybersecurity readiness, best practices,
and awareness, at various government levels and affiliated organizations throughout the state. The role addresses significant vulnerabilities by providing much-needed resources, knowledge, and support to local governments and other entities that may lack the capacity to implement effective cybersecurity
measures independently.
Key Responsibilities:
 Advocate for and promote the adoption of cybersecurity best practices across local governments and organizations, leveraging resources such as the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP).
 Coordinate statewide cybersecurity efforts, ensuring alignment and collaboration among all stakeholders to achieve common cybersecurity goals.
 Identify gaps in cybersecurity resources among local governments and propose strategic changes to enhance their cybersecurity posture.
 Lead strategic planning and foster collaborative relationships with federal partners, state agencies, local governments, industry associations, and community groups to develop and execute a comprehensive cybersecurity outreach strategy.
 Develop and deliver educational materials, workshops, and outreach programs tailored to different levels of cybersecurity understanding and readiness across local governments and statewide partners.
Experience:
 3-5 years of experience in strategic planning, project management, or coordinating large-scale initiatives, ideally with a focus on cybersecurity or public sector projects.
 A degree or formal education in a relevant field such as cybersecurity, state or local emergency management, information technology, public administration, public sector coordination, or a related discipline.
 Familiarity with federal programs, including managing or working with federal grants or funding programs related to cybersecurity, is beneficial. Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and best practices, with experience in public sector operations preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 Cybersecurity Expertise: In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and current threats. Capable of applying this knowledge to develop effective strategies tailored to various levels of government.
 Strategic Planning: Proven ability to design and implement comprehensive cybersecurity plans that align with state and federal objectives.
 Project Management: Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to oversee multiple concurrent initiatives, manage resources effectively, and adhere to deadlines.
 Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, concise educational materials and convey complex information to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
 Collaboration: Strong ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including federal partners, state agencies, local governments, industry associations, and community organizations.
 Problem-Solving: Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capability to identify vulnerabilities, assess risks, and propose strategic solutions to strengthen cybersecurity.
 Leadership: Ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate statewide initiatives, ensuring alignment and collaboration among all stakeholders to achieve unified cybersecurity goals.
 Adaptability: Flexibility to respond to evolving cybersecurity challenges and swiftly adjust strategies to counter emerging threats.
 Familiarity with Federal and State Programs: Knowledge of federal and state cybersecurity programs, including funding mechanisms like grants, to maximize support and resources for local government initiatives.
 Training and Outreach Development: Experience in designing and delivering training and outreach programs tailored to various levels of cybersecurity understanding and readiness.
Impact: This role is essential to ensuring the state can effectively protect its digital infrastructure by enhancing the cybersecurity capabilities of local governments and statewide partners. Through coordinated efforts, education, and the promotion of best practices, the Statewide Cybersecurity
Coordinator will contribute to a stronger and more resilient cybersecurity environment across the state.
Work Environment & Travel Requirements: While the position is primarily remote, there will be a need for in-person attendance at meetings and events, as well as occasional travel to various locations across Maine. The selected candidate should be prepared to travel as needed to effectively coordinate cybersecurity efforts and engage with stakeholders statewide.
Why You'll Love This Position: You’ll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the cybersecurity landscape of an entire state. As the Statewide Cybersecurity Coordinator, you’ll be at the forefront of protecting critical digital infrastructure, collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders, and
driving meaningful change in cybersecurity awareness and readiness. This role allows you to combine strategic planning, education, and leadership, enabling you to use your expertise to build a more secure and resilient environment for local governments and statewide partners. The position offers the flexibility
of remote work, with the added variety of occasional travel across Maine, making it a dynamic and fulfilling opportunity.
