The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will provide purpose, direction, and motivation while operating to accomplish the goals and improving the Manufacturing Engineering Group.

They will provide guidance and expertise towards the final stage development, scale up, and commercialization of new and existing product lines and tooling for Polymer, Device and Natural Material COE’s. They will be managing a team of Engineers and Technicians tasked with developing and/or improving current and future dsm-firmenich Biomedical materials based machinery/tooling and products/ processes. They will direct or participate on project teams within the PMP/project management process. This position manages product lifecycle support for running business. This position evaluates and investigates new technologies and potential relationships with outside companies’ products in support of the Strategic Business Initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide purpose, direction, motivation, development and coaching for the Manufacturing Engineering Team to accomplish the Key Results for the business.
  2. Cultivate a team with the expertise to identify and optimize product/ process variables required for maximizing product/ process performance at a full production scale
  3. Cultivate a team with the expertise to conduct and/ or participate in Engineering Change Requests (ECR), Management of Change (MOC), HAZOP, Machine Safety Assessments and other review processes.
  4. Manage investigations and improvements into manufacturing product/ processing issues, focusing on tooling/ machinery improvements and Lean Principles.
  5. Manage continuous improvement of products/ processes to achieve improvements in productivity, yield and/or operating costs.
  6. Manage investigation into customer complaints and non-conformances.
  7. Provide technical support to the different technologies and help develop the capital strategy for the business.

You Bring:

  1. Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering — Biomedical, Mechanical, Chemical or related field. 
  2. Minimum 7 years of experience in a  highly regulated industry; preference for medical device.
  3. Ability to lead & manage and/or function as part of a multifunctional and multi- departmental team.
  4. Extensive knowledge and experience working with manufacturing machinery and tooling in a medical device environment or related industry.
  5. Extensive knowledge and experience working with Engineering & Quality tools (Statistics, Lean Six Sigma, DFM, DOE). Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
  6. Demonstrated project management experience. Ability to apply Project Management techniques according to PMP. External PMP certifications preferred.
  7. Proficient in the use of MSOffice, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Minitab and   SharePoint.
