Job Description Summary:

The Director of Field Technology will be 75% operating in the field to support the Field Technology Partners, Franchisees, Field Teams and Vendors. The other 25% of this role will be to lead Innovation of emerging technology platforms and innovations in the restaurant technology space. The primary focus of the role will be to lead and collaborate with the franchisees on their technology standardization journey and to begin driving technology as a business driver for their operations.

Responsibilities: 75% Field Technology Support Team

  • Engaging with the Franchisees and Field Teams: Direct the field Technology Partners function and engage with field operations leadership and business partners.
  • Meet the franchisees where they are on their technology journey. Using the function of the FTP’s to help drive not only standardization but ensure that the deployed technology is truly helping enable business operations.
  • Regular quarterly engagements with the field team/leadership to review outstanding issues, report on progress by region and to share upcoming initiatives or tech ops engagements.
  • Direct and manage regional engagement with the FTP’s, Field Teams and Franchisees.
  • Work with the regions to align on technology program initiatives.
  • Drive technology KPI’s for regions on the technology roadmap and transformations.
  • Coordinate and build out the NRO and remodel playbook for restaurants from the technology side.
  • Attend regional franchisee meetings and engagements to support the Field Teams and Franchisees with technology concerns or feedback.
  • Drive FTP team to build out the Franchise Technology Business Partner Playbook and KPI’s.
  • Report to BK leadership on a regular cadence on all the above.
  • Assist with planning and execution of franchisee engagement meetings like Tech and Digital Councils and Convention.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor FTP teams, provide guidance and support tracking and successful engagement.
  • Lead, coach and support FTP team functions to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of the program objectives.
  • Support Franchisee updates and communications during the development of software/hardware including deployment calls and tracking along with timely communications.
  • Where necessary, re-engineer processes to ensure services align with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision.

Responsibilities: 25% Innovation

  • Direct the Restaurant Technology Innovation team.
  • Define/refine the technology innovation cycle working with cross functional leads from Operations, Digital, Drive Through and In-store Guest Experience teams along with other stakeholders.
  • Lead the Restaurant Innovation Center from a current tech and emerging tech perspective.
  • Guide and deliver POC solutions in the RIC for functional testing.
  • Ensure that the tech infrastructure in RIC is maintained with high standards to ensure availability and operability of all tech solutions.
  • Work with vendor partners to procure, test, and POC new technology solutions.
  • Drive emerging hardware tech initiatives for in-store technology infrastructure.
  • Drive with both teams the technology roadmap and refresh cycle with the goal of reducing the overall Capex/Opex load on the restaurant and franchise bottom line.
  • Guide the team on identifying, learning new technology platforms and pushing to evaluate their application for BK.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a support process for both hardware and software of the solution ensuring a high SLA adherence.
  • Assist with technical execution of franchisee engagement meetings like tech and digital councils and Convention.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in the field of computer science, information systems or business and a minimum of 3 years related work experience.
  • 5 plus years of leading multiple teams and delivering business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with Franchisees and manage their expectations.
  • Ability to work in a field environment where travel and meeting organization are key functions.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Experience developing consumer focused tech solutions from pilot to thousands of locations at scale in a quick and efficient manner.
  • Prior successful experience in managing large (multimillion dollar) budgets and projects.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience managing in complex IT environments, preferably in the Quick Service Restaurants, Hospitality, or Retail industries.
  • Previous experience in the areas of Application Development and future support requirements.
  • Strong understanding of project management, Agile, SDLC, LEAN, Kanban, Scrum principles and tools highly desired.
  • Strong ability to prioritize activities and excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective stakeholder management experience across a large, decentralized organization.
  • Highly developed facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, open concept, collaborative environment.
