In this position, you will serve as the Equipment Specialist (Gunsmith) responsible for inspecting, repairing, and modifying a variety of Diplomatic Security weapons for official duty use.

Major Duties: Who May Apply: Job Status: Duration Appointment: This is a non-status, non-permanent Personal Service Contract (PSC) position. PSC's do not acquire a competitive or excepted service status from this position. Contract is 1 year; renewable up to 4 years. Conditions of Employment: Education: Education requirements do not apply to this vacancy announcement.

Requirements: Qualifications: Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.

Applicants applying for the GS-12 grade level must meet the following requirements:

Have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:

Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment.
Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements.
Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements.
Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders.
Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met.
Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement.

In addition, qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Experience inspecting, repairing, and modifying a variety of weapons.
Experience conducting comprehensive studies on new types of ammunition in order to evaluate its effectiveness.
Experience processing firearms being shipped to/from overseas and domestic locations.

There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
