The Position:

Associate Director, Family Philanthropy

Job Summary:

The Associate Director, Family Philanthropy will advance the mission of the College by developing and increasing the level of personal involvement and financial commitment of current and former families. This Associate Director identifies, cultivates and stewards families, including students and extended family members to encourage support to the College across generations. This position is the staff liaison to the Parents' Council and manages all aspects of the program from invitations to join to bi-annual meetings. Schedule & Benefits: This is a full-time, year-round position based in Allentown, PA with partial remote work available. Characteristics Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for all activity related to the fundraising efforts in regards to current and past families.

* Maintain a portfolio of 150 potential major family donors capable of making a leadership gift to the College. This work includes cultivation, solicitation, closing and stewardship of major gifts and HMMS-level Muhlenberg Fund gifts.

* Responsible for all activities related to the Parents' Council, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

* Develop and maintain a travel schedule resulting in an average of 12 prospect visits a month - a minimum of 135 visits are expected annually.

* Plan, coordinate and manage fall and spring Parents' Council meetings.

* Expand and support a growing, vital and engaged group of parent and family volunteers.

* Work with the Advancement Communication team on developing and coordinating family-specific solicitations and communication, stewardship events and activities.

* Assist the Executive Director, Annual Giving with coordination and personalization of the parent segment in all broad-based appeals.

* Track all relevant key performance Indicators for the Family Philanthropy program.

* Attend and participate in major on-campus College functions, including but not limited to Reunion and Homecoming Weekend, Family Weekend, Honors Convocation, Commencement, Baccalaureate, Opening Convocation, staff phonathons, Day of Giving activities as well as regional alumni & parent events.

* Other duties as assigned in pursuit of the mission of the Advancement organization.

While no one person may possess all the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will have many of the following professional experiences and characteristics:

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree required.

* Minimum six years of successful experience in philanthropy.

* Excellent skills in communication, analysis, organization, time management and planning.

* Strong analytical and assessment skills required.

* Demonstrated understanding of fundraising techniques, volunteer management, donor relations and stewardship.

* Ability to understand and articulate the role of a small, private liberal arts college.

* An active commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

* Ability to work in a self-directed fashion while serving as a member of a collaborative development and alumni relations team.

* Experience with face-to-face solicitation.

* Travel (that may require overnight stays) and some night and weekend work are required.

* Satisfactory completion of standard background checks, including but not limited to education verification, driving record, national criminal background checks, and child abuse clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in higher education annual giving.

* Previous experience with parent and family giving preferred.
