Duties
• Plans and carries out activities to accomplish public information, Command information, and community relations functions by disseminating information to news media, Command employees, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepares and coordinates the production and dissemination of public relations materials to include video footage, specialized literature, brochures, booklets, pamphlets, or feature articles.
• Responds to information requests from regional and national media and various publics on Command programs verbally and in writing.
• Provides detailed, technical explanations to and maintains effective working relationships with news media representatives.
• Conducts a community relations program utilizing all channels of communication including press, radio, and television and community organizations.
• Works to continually evaluate and improve the effectiveness of Command information media and methods
Requirements Conditions of Employment
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, coordinating and providing public affairs support for a large organization; planning the productions of information products; and developing news releases; managing website and designing print and online products
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11)
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify
For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted
