Position Summary:

The Patient Access Specialist I (PAS I) will check-in patient upon arrival, identify correct patient information in Hospital Systems, verify patient demographic data, and edit as needed. The PAS I will accurately identify the appropriate account for patient visit and will present and educate patients on required forms and obtain signature as required by policy and procedure. The PAS I will complete all check-in files and manage all appropriate processes specific to the patient and their visit. The PAS I will complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:
  • High School Diploma required.

Experience:
  • One year experience working with health insurance required.
  • One year experience in patient registration in a medical environment preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
  • Medical Terminology certification preferred.

Special Skills:
  • Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong PC skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Working Conditions
  • Occasional exposure to difficult patients.
  • Potential exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens.
  • Stress level high due to multiple demands frequently occurring simultaneously.
  • Physical surroundings generally pleasant and comfortable.
  • Most work performed while sitting, however, a moderate amount of walking and moving around within a confined area occurs.
