This position provides expert administrative support to the leadership and technical staff of the Nebraska Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) and the Nebraska Public Services Laboratory (NPSL). Contributes to the efficient operations of the laboratories and acts as an administrative liaison between the laboratories and outside organizations such as the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (NE-DHHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Omaha Police Department (OPD), and other agencies under contract with the laboratories. Coordinates administration of grants and contracts from pre- and post-award, while interacting with laboratory leadership to ensure deadlines for reporting are completed and grants comply with regulatory, funding agency, and policy requirements.

* Able to pass OPD background check.
* Ability to handle and keep confidential sensitive information relating to personnel and patient records, laboratory results, etc. and keep information confidential.
* Expert knowledge of the principles of office management/procedures as applied to effective organization of office and department operations, as well as ability to plan and organize the workflow in a busy office environment.
* Excellent computer skills, including experience with word processing, database and spreadsheet software programs required.
* Ability to be self-directed in accomplishing the coordination and decision making responsibilities of this position, and be resourceful in problem solving and able to work with minimal supervision.
* Ability to be organized and flexible in response to changing demands, handling a high volume of work under pressure.
