You are the right person for the Community Development Program Coordinator position if you are a detailed oriented person with exceptional organization skills and having the ability to deliver a great customer service. Public contact and presentation at neighborhood, or board, meetings and with other community partners is an aspect of work. Thinking critically and strategically while managing tasks and working on multiple projects throughout the workday is a priority for the person in this position.

The ideal candidate for the Community Development Program Coordinator position is passionate about helping community members find housing solutions and enjoys managing a complex workflow and status processing reports.

On a typical day, the Community Development Program Coordinator would support a variety of housing and CD projects. Work is detailed and require prioritization based upon deadlines. While maintaining and tracking those deadlines you will need to switch gears and work with various internal and external governmental staff to ensure program compliance with regulations, and respond to a complaints regarding programs. Other work could include reviewing a grant proposal before it is submitted, compiling a status report to present to the department director, as well as, preparing a meeting agenda for the Surry County Housing Consortium, work supporting the City of Burlington CD Division, and then end the day by offering support to intake staff.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in a field such as public administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Related administrative experience
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities
  • Communication skills that range from resolving participant conflict to working with department directors
  • Excellent writing, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with government programs such as the HOME Program, and CDBG, are a preference but not a requirement.
  • Familiarity with applications such as HUD’s IDIS, project tracking software such as Neighborly, are preferences but not required.
  • Experience with environmental reviews, including Request for Release of Funds (RROF), is a preference but not requirement.

Special Requirements

If you are selected to fill the role of Community Development Program Coordinator, you will need to present a valid North Carolina Driver’s License, pass the pre-employment drug screen and background screening process. Travel to Burlington through the week is a requirement, and occasionally, you may have a day trip in the 12-county region.

All of our PTRC staff is required to complete a six-month probationary employment period. The Community Development Program Coordinator will be required to complete program and grant specific training and perform as an independent operator.

Salary ( $50,233.28 ) DOQ. Organization provides excellent benefits including NC Local Governmental Employee's Retirement System (NCLGERS) and participates in PSLFP.
