Duties * You will ensure protective equipment is worn, all safety practices and good housekeeping rules are followed. * You will recommend assignments of personnel to ensure skills training is optimized, using current ships availability and schedule. * You will instruct and advise students who appear to be falling behind in level of proficiency, suggest how improvement can be made, and report disciplinary problems to shop Supervisors. * You will efficiently relay supervisory instructions to other workers assigned to the task or project. * You will work with other workers, setting the pace and demonstrating proper work methods. You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Lead Or Supervise * Ability to instruct on proper work procedures and methods, use of tools, and safety pertaining to shop trade skills. * Directing crews to set up for various evolutions such as ship arrivals, docking, undocking, and berthing requirements. * Interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, technical instructions, and work orders to complete assigned tasks. * Ensuring the Supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, and time schedules are met. * Making sure all materials, tools, software, and equipment are available to the crew to accomplish assignments.
