Duties * You will prepare non-routine legal assistance documents (e.g. ,immigration and naturalization paperwork, divorce paperwork, small claims court filings) and other legal assistance materials requiring legal research and analysis for attorneys. * You will prepare client-specific correspondence, case summaries, briefs, memoranda of law or other legal materials requiring independent legal research and analysis. * You will interview clients to obtain and verify information. * You will Proof write products to ensure correct assembly, format, and grammar. * You will establish office procedures to ensure all facets of legal assistance operations are completed efficiently and within timelines established. * You will establish office procedures to maximize office efficiency. * You will maintain databases of legal points of contact for area military commands and track frequency of contact with them. * You will maintain a database of command naturalization points of contact * You will organize legal services site visits to command locations to ensure service members are prepared with appropriate legal documents and knowledge in advance of deployment. * You will provide weekly reports to all attorneys regarding any upcoming site visits. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: (1) Preparing non-routine legal assistance documents (e.g., immigration and naturalization paperwork, divorce paperwork, small claims court filings) and other legal assistance materials like client-specific correspondence, case summaries, briefs, memoranda of law, pleadings, motions or other legal materials requiring legal research and analysis for attorneys; (2) Evaluating correspondence, case files, or other legal documents to determine sufficiency of materials and identify needed actions by conducting investigation and information gathering to determine pertinent facts; (3) Assisting attorneys with training assigned military and civilian support staff in local law, court procedures, legal research, documentation preparation, case management and office procedures by providing initial, refresher, and ongoing on-the-job training on Legal Assistance laws and procedures, database input and management, correspondence, customer service; (4) Preparing periodic and ad hoc reports by gathering data from databases, personnel, and monitoring department activities; (5) Managing the Outreach Program i.e., gives in-house pre-deployment briefs, coordinating in house and site visit presentations, and / or delivering formal / informal presentations / training regarding legal or administrative procedures; and (6) Assisting clients with immigration and naturalization matters.
