Summary You will serve as a ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR WORK LEADER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, PRODUCTION DIVISION -INTEGRATED SOLID WASTE (RECYCLE) PROGRAM of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. Duties * You will lead, provide instructions, and assign tasks to personnel to accomplish trades and labor work. * You will inspect work while in progress, at completion, and investigates and resolves problems and recommending solutions as necessary. * You will operate and perform required maintenance such as checking brakes, warning devices, air, oil, electrical, and temperature gauges for proper operation. * You will plan the best sequence of arranging, picking up, and setting out equipment in order to accomplish work with the least number of moves, save time, meet deadlines, and comply with the safety regulations and practices. * You will determine shortest and safest routes for both short and long runs, considering the height and weight of the vehicle, and the safe loading and unloading of vehicles. * You will oversee the movement of fragile or insecure cargo and ensure that material or equipment transported are properly placed, tied down securely, and follow pertinent regulations, instructions, and requirements. Failure to obtain and maintain licensing requirements may result in removal. * Forklift an additional licensing may be required as driving operations adapt to customer or command requirements. * You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. * You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. * You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. * Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. * You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Must possess a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Incumbent works mostly outside under many adverse weather conditions. The Engineering Equipment Operator Leader is frequently exposed to conditions such as loud noise from the operation of equipment, industrial work sites; fumes and odors, such as those from diesel exhaust and creosote. The incumbent is exposed to possible injury from accidental slipping and falling while working and walking over ties, railway slopes, rails, and while coupling and uncoupling devices and air brake hoses, and from motor vehicles or other accidents.
