SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST with Security Clearance

Summary You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH OFFICE of NAVAL AIR STATION WHIDBEY ISLAND. Duties * You will assist management in formulating and preparing safety program policy statements, standards, guides, and similar materials applicable to the organization. * You will use an approved safety management system for maintaining workload documentation of safety services provided. * You will present oral presentations to program managers, safety representative, and contractors on occupational safety and health policies, guidelines, and implementation. * You will advise management on their legal responsibility to provide a safe and healthful worksite for employees. * You will analyze work tasks to determine existing or potentially hazardous situations. * You will compose documents (e.g., instructions, notices, letters, special reports) to facilitate the implementation of safety programs required by federal laws or higher echelon requirements and direction. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing data on work operations, mishaps, and safety practices to prepare reports of findings that propose corrective measures for unsafe conditions and hazardous work practices; 2) Investigating mishaps, hazard reports, and unsafe or unhealthful working conditions to protect personnel and property; 3) Advising personnel of safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes; and 4) Conducting safety and occupational health inspections and surveys to evaluate effectiveness of unit safety program.
