Job Details

• Location: Grayslake, Illinois (In-person, NOT hybrid/remote)
• Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) - Earlier hours can be accommodated
• Reports to: Purchasing Manager

Job Responsibilities - Buyer

• Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies for essential materials
• Source, create, review, and process purchase orders
• Maintain accurate part data and planning parameters in Epicor
• Identify, research, and evaluate suppliers to meet purchasing standards
• Request and analyze quotations, ensuring all criteria are met
• Negotiate pricing and delivery terms with vendors effectively
• Implement and maintain inventory control systems to forecast material demand
• Continuously assess and build relationships with suppliers
• Evaluate quality, price, reliability, and availability of goods and services
• Monitor inventory levels and anticipate supply needs
• Track and report key metrics to reduce expenses and enhance efficiency
• Gain a deep understanding of inventory product needs and control systems
• Resolve purchasing issues related to Accounting, Receiving, and other departments

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Buyer

• Experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Inventory Control
• Strong negotiation, vendor management, and strategic procurement skills
• Proven problem-solving capabilities with a track record of meeting objectives
• Excellent decision-making and judgment skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel skills preferred); Epicor experience a plus
• In-depth knowledge of the company's products and services
• Ability to conduct independent research and apply organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
• Focused on continuous improvement and implementing best practices
