Our client is a leading, well-established commercial construction company who is looking for a Commercial Roofing Estimator to join their growing team in the Roofing Division.
The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for client communication, preparing and submitting the Prebid package (estimate, budget, and schedule), and traveling to the project site as necessary to collect pertinent information.
This position requires extensive travel and reports from the office in Houston, TX. Candidates from other parts of Texas and Southern Florida will also be considered.
The Commercial Roofing Estimator reports into the Division Director. The responsibilities are, but are not limited to:
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial roofing projects
- Conduct detailed analyses of project specifications, blueprints, and drawings
- Collaborate with A&E and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates
- Perform quantity takeoffs through drawings, prints, and other measures, including site visits as needed
- Determine the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for commercial roofing
- Prepare estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work
- Manage pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions
- Ensure that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline
- Client communication (local & corporate) at specified intervals to set and maintain expectations
- Communicate internally the client expectations to ensure a smooth transition into production
- Work with the internal Prebid review team to finalize estimates and distribute them to the client
- Assist in subcontractor and vendor selection and vetting as needed
- Prepare turnover package and complete project hand-off to Project Manager
- Re-engage as necessary during production to review progress
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required
MUST have at least Five (5) Years of Experience In:
- Commercial roofing estimation, preferably with Edge and/or Planswift
- Prebid Commercial Roofing Experience
- Handling, installing, and servicing commercial roofing systems
- Commercial re-roofing
Other Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of Commercial Roofing practices, procedures, and techniques, as well as applicable local, state, and federal building codes and legislation
- Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details
- Able to prioritize and multi-task, proactive and deadline-oriented, and have interpersonal skills
- Must possess strong negotiation skills
- Time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to closely collaborate with other project teams and stakeholders
- Knowledge of Pipeline invitation-to-bid software is a plus
