Electrical Controls Engineer

The Electrical Controls Engineer will work under the direction of Plant Manager to address and execute electrical engineering and controls initiatives at the Organic Milling (Roskam Foods) site in San Dimas, California. This individual will have a strong working knowledge of both industrial power distribution and industrial controls, inclusive of hardware and software. This role will oversee the sites’ power systems and control systems and be responsible for implementation and modification. This individual will also be responsible for overseeing the direction of external vendors in keeping with Organic Milling (Roskam Foods) goals and standards.


Responsibilities

  • Work with integrators, contractors, and site personnel to address electrical system functionality and troubleshoot issues, including parts repair and replacement.
  • Ensure that all new site-level controls, networking, and power distribution projects are planned and integrated in keeping with the Organic Milling and Roskam Foods direction.
  • Manage all site level instrumentation programs.
  • Maintain up to date as-built records and drawings of power distribution systems, control systems, HVAC systems, deployments.
  • Ensure that control systems comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in safety audits and contribute to the development of safety procedures related to control systems.
  • Work with site reliability and facilities personnel to develop and execute preventative maintenance plans.
  • Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and operators to address system issues and improve overall system performance.
  • Provide technical support and training to operations personnel as needed.
  • Act as the site-level focal point/interface between the operational technology (OT) and IT.
  • Adherence to plant cGMP(s)
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as system failures or alarms, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Support operational needs during off-shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • 8+ years of experience electrical engineering/Industrial controls environment. Including hardware design, control system software design, and HMI system design.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills resolving electrical and control systems issues.
  • Safety: Knowledge of safety standards and practices in industrial settings. NFPA, ANSI, NEC
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding engineering drawings including electrical diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical diagrams.
  • CPG/Manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Ladder Logic; Rockwell, or similar engineering tools and platforms preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems.
  • Working knowledge of power distribution systems.
  • Strong verbal / written communication, presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage projects from conception to implementation.
  • Ability to work effectively with little supervision; highly independent / flexible setting priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks / projects.
  • Ability to collaboratively lead / influence stakeholders across organizational functions.
