Orion Group is hiring an Project Manager (SAP Specialist) to enter and maintain purchase order status using SAP for our pharmaceutical client in North Chicago.


The Project Manager will coordinate with coworkers and customers for needed information to enter and track orders accurately and run internal and client reports to capture assigned work and track order progress. This role will alsol be expected to drive results from support functions through effective regular communication.


The candidate must be able to follow up with support team members on action items, drive project tasks to closure, and require tactical support and hands-on execution of assigned tasks by the program manager.

Your general job responsibilities will be supporting project managers in the following areas, but not limited to:

• Creation of Shopping Carts within the SAP ERP system

• Work with the Global Packaging team to provide quotes

• Proactively verify vendor status in vendor master database.

• Complete new vendor setup documentation (including Bank Verification Form and vendor setup requests) as needed

• Ensure timely approval and release of vendor invoices by routing for business owner approval, releasing in SRM, and proactively monitoring for issues and following up for resolution.

• Facilitate and track Purchase Order Creation and Closing

• Invoice reconciliation, Invoice Tracking with Global Packaging resources. Clear up blocked/parked invoices

• Escalate issues to project manager which could cause delay in the timeline

• Accurately inputs and monitors orders according to client and company procedures

• Responds to inquires in a timely manner

• Track key milestones to report output as needed.

• Notifies various entities as needed to update Shopping Cart status as process progresses

• Supports department manager and staff with project update requests

• Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the Process purchase orders through all stages of purchase cycle (requests, creation, change, tracking, closure, and deletion)

Top 3-5 skills, experience and education required for this position:

  • SAP (ECC production)
  • SAP SRM
  • SAP Vendor set-up
  • High-level of attention to details and accuracy.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Minimum of 3 years exp in SAP SRM and SAP (ECC production)
