Location: Plattsburgh, NY (On-site role)

Duration: 12 Months

Must have:

Certified P.ENG Engineer from NY State, Rail experience, Tooling (Production tools, such as Jigs & fixtures) & Design & Drawing

Job Description Summary:

NY professional engineer certification on tools that were designed at Rail Production plant. His duties would encompass a range of responsibilities to ensure the tools meet safety, regulatory, and operational requirements. He needs to review and perform calculations required to pass criteria established by the registered Professional Engineer and have the drawings validated and stamped accordingly.

  • Review and Approval: You would review engineering drawings and technical specifications for tools designed for use in rail production. This review ensures that the drawings accurately reflect the design intent, comply with engineering standards and codes, and meet the specific requirements of the rail production environment.
  • Accuracy and Completeness: Ensuring that the drawings are accurate, complete, and detailed enough for manufacturing and assembly purposes. This includes verifying dimensions, tolerances, materials specifications, and any special instructions or requirements.
  • Compliance: Ensuring that the drawings comply with all relevant regulations, standards, and industry practices. This may include standards set by organizations like AREMA (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association) or specific regulations governing rail production equipment.
  • Technical Expertise: Applying your technical expertise and knowledge of engineering principles to assess the feasibility and functionality of the design as depicted in the drawings. This involves evaluating structural integrity, safety considerations, performance requirements, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with multidisciplinary teams including other engineers, designers, technicians, and stakeholders within the rail production plant. Effective communication is key to ensure all parties understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of the review process, including any comments, revisions, or approvals made to the drawings. Documentation is essential for traceability, future reference, and compliance audits.
  • Quality Assurance: Verifying that the drawings align with the approved design specifications and that any changes or updates are properly documented and communicated to relevant parties.
  • Risk Assessment and Safety: Conducting risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with the tools and implementing design features or procedures to mitigate these risks. Safety is paramount in rail production environments, so your role includes ensuring tools are safe to operate and maintain.
  • He or she is a critical role in ensuring that the tools designed for rail production meet regulatory requirements, adhere to engineering standards, and function effectively and safely within the operational environment of the rail production plant.
  • Your validation and sign-off on drawings provide assurance to stakeholders that the designs are technically sound and ready for implementation.
