Job Description: Join our dynamic Manufacturing, Technology, and Engineering (MTE) Team as a Senior Electrical Engineer within our Corporate Engineering Group. Key Responsibilities: As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within the Rolled Products North America (RPNA) Manufacturing, Technology, and Engineering (MTE) team. Your primary focus will be on providing engineering support and leadership for high-voltage electrical drives and large AC/DC motors across our rolling network. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Leading major project management initiatives, safety programs, and maintenance planning for large motor equipment.
- Providing engineering support to maintenance, operations, and production teams, ensuring continuous improvement, problem-solving, and technical solutions for recurring design, process, and application challenges.
- Managing and implementing capital projects, major repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Supporting equipment reliability, process improvement, equipment troubleshooting, automation, and smart manufacturing initiatives.
- Implementing standard practices and overseeing major capital projects across multiple domestic and international manufacturing facilities.
This role offers a high degree of autonomy and requires travel up to 25-50%, including some international travel, with the majority in North America. The home location for this role is Davenport, IA, with potential options in Alcoa, TN, or Lancaster, PA, though Davenport, IA is preferred.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with large AC/DC motors, high voltage systems, 480VAC power distribution, transformers, automation, process control systems, drives, and PLCs.
- Proven experience in leading and managing electrical projects, including design, installation, and commissioning.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available).
- Compliance with Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience with electrical systems and manufacturing processes.
- 5 years of experience in high voltage equipment design, maintenance, and failure analysis.
- Experience supervising craft personnel in the implementation of engineered solutions and maintenance activities.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Experience in capital project management, including estimation, justification, and installation.
- Strong background in designing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, sub-stations, and relays.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards, codes, and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills, creative thinking abilities, and excellent communication skills.
- Experience managing external vendors for electrical design and support functions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
