Solution Architect Cloud Native (Payments/Financial Services)Must have Deep experience in payments / financial transaction systems.Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid onsite a few days per week)Type: Contract-to-HireOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Solution Architect with strong cloud-native engineering expertise and deep payments/financial services knowledge. In this role, you will design scalable, secure, and resilient solutions powering next-generation payment platforms. Youll partner closely with engineering, product, security, and compliance teams to drive architecture across complex, high-volume transactional systems.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & DesignDesign end-to-end cloud-native architectures using microservices, event-driven patterns, containers, and serverless technologies.Develop solution blueprints, integration patterns, and data flows for real-time and batch payment processing.Ensure architecture meets standards for scalability, reliability, security, observability, and performance.Technical LeadershipProvide architectural guidance and hands-on technical leadership to engineering teams.Lead architecture reviews and ensure alignment across technology domains.Evaluate emerging cloud services, frameworks, and payment technologies for adoption.Payments & Financial Services ExpertiseArchitect solutions for card payments, ACH, wires, wallets, open banking, and other financial products.Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, PSD2, FFIEC, and related regulatory frameworks.Champion secure-by-design principles across transaction flows and integrations.Cloud Engineering & InfrastructureDrive cloud-native system design on AWS, Azure, or GCP.Utilize Kubernetes, managed databases, API gateways, messaging/streaming platforms (Kafka/PubSub), and IaC tools.Partner with SRE/DevOps to implement robust observability, monitoring, and incident response capabilities.Collaboration & Stakeholder EngagementTranslate business needs into actionable, technically sound solution designs.Communicate architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.Collaborate with partners, vendors, and financial networks on integrations and certifications.Required Qualifications7+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, or cloud architecture.Strong experience with cloud-native architectures (microservices, containers, serverless, API design).Deep experience in payments / financial transaction systems.Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).Hands-on experience with Python and C#.Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data privacy in financial environments.Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform (or similar IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and modern observability tooling.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Kafka, event sourcing, or high-throughput streaming systems.Familiarity with ISO 8583, ISO 20022, or other payment messaging standards.Understanding of ML-based fraud or risk analytics.Cloud architecture certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP).Experience working in agile or scaled agile environments.What We OfferOpportunity to shape next-generation payments infrastructure.Collaborative engineering culture and high-impact work.Competitive compensation and growth potential.
