Position Summary:

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician, the Medical Assistant performs delegated functions as a member of the patient care team to provide a variety of multi-skilled services. These activities contribute to meeting the health care, safety and comfort needs of patients, and are performed in accordance with all existing regulatory, state and company standards, policies and procedures. (Duties of the Medical Assistant can vary at each clinical area).

Essential Position Duties:

Provide smooth and timely flow of patients in accordance with the COHC patient flow guidelines responding to high volumes of patients in short-term time spans.
Provides safe and appropriate basic patient care and administrative duties as needed and in scope of practice, delegated by a Registered Nurse, LPN, and/or Medical Provider in order to assist patients in achieving established outcomes by: collecting data points (e.g. vital signs, EKG’s, blood glucose monitoring, etc.) to provide the RN, LPN, or Physician with information utilized in assessment.
Performs direct patient observation; reports changes in patient condition to RN, LPN, or Medical Provider and assists in reinforcing patient education.
Perform various other duties such as dressing changes as assigned.
Performs selected basic therapeutic measures under the direction of an RN or LPN to assist in achieving established patient care outcomes.
Maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment for patients and visitors by performing the selected duties as assigned.
Models quality patient / customer services by: demonstrating a willingness to serve all customers at all times; maintain an awareness of patient needs and utilize the initiative to respond to those needs within skill level; utilizes tact, discretion, and compassion in dealing with other members of the team to ensure quality patient care.
Demonstrates willingness for self-improvement by collaborating with leadership to identify learning needs (reflective of the organization and of the individual) and seek instruction from appropriate resources.
Contributes to improvement by participating in meetings, training, in-service education, and performance improvement activities as directed. Ensures cost-effective utilization of resources within own control.
Prepare patients for examination and assist physician upon request.
Ability to recognize emergent situation and react swiftly in emergency situations.
Assist the providers as required in ensuring all patient information on electronic encounter documentation is complete and accurate. Knowledge of the basic concepts of customer service technique related to age-specific population.
Comply with all Federal, state, local, Joint Commission Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), DPH, Subcontractor safety and operational regulations, directives and standards.
Maintain confidentiality of all information and supporting patients' privacy, rights, and safety.
Provide coverage for other clinical areas (as requested)
Performs miscellaneous duties as required by management.
Must maintain appropriate attendance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess effective communication skills.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.
Demonstrate the ability to effectively translate medical terminology as assessed by successful completion of language proficiency assessment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and basic computer maneuverability.
Able to efficiently function in fast-paced work environment.
Requirements:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
Current CPR certification.

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
