Objective:

The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective production of commodities while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and FDA/USDA compliance.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligning with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Oversee operations of the production departments
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to optimize production workflows, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures to ensure products are produced efficiently and to meet quality standards
  • Manage a team of operational leaders and supervisors, providing leadership and guidance to ensure a productive and motivated workforce
  • Monitor production metrics (KPIs) and implement strategies to improve performance and reduce costs
  • Develop and install Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to drive business fundamentals as well as execute Value Creation Plans (VCPs)
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless coordination and communication within the organization
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards, and implement measures to maintain a safe and healthy work environment
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices, and recommend process improvements and technology upgrades to optimize operations
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in FDA/USDA manufacturing operations, perishable commodity experience a plus, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing supervisors, maintenance, or facilities
  • Minimum of 2 years managing facility to a budget, full P&L experience a plus
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to set clear expectations and drive results through hands-on partnerships with employees and business leadership
  • Proven track record of driving operational efficiencies, VCP results, and sustainable SOPs
  • Proven track record of implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving process improvements
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and safety standards
  • Must be authorized to work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for the US
