Senior Consultant for Trade Floor Support (12-Month Contract) - New York City


We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Consultant to join our clients team in New York City. This is a 12-month contract position requiring solid and proven expertise in Futures and Options. The role demands an onsite presence with a flexible work schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.


Responsibilities: Located within the trade floor, you will work directly with traders, quants, quant developers, salespeople, and relationship managers. This varied role involves working with market-leading technologies to support the operation of bespoke trading platform. You will be responsible for support duties across the business and production systems used for Equities and Exchange-Traded Derivatives asset classes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide front-office support to client-facing business teams (Trade Desk/Trade Coverage) and clients, diagnosing revenue-generating issues and routine tasks, and escalating to Platform Services/Implementation/Development teams where appropriate.
  • Act as the first responder to all client-related support issues, escalating to internal support or development teams when necessary.
  • Respond to monitoring alerts related to trading systems (execution DKs, order rejections, breaches of risk controls, etc.)
  • Manage incidents for front office issues and assist with product testing and project work.
  • Contribute to the ‘follow the sun’ support model, working closely with global teams in APAC and US to ensure pre-market health checks are performed for each region.
  • Perform regional start-of-day health checks to ensure all processes are operational and members are connected to the platform.
  • Occasionally work weekends during major upgrades and out-of-hours testing.


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience within the listed derivatives markets with a strong understanding of trading and clearing workflows.
  • Over 5 years of hands-on support experience within a financial institution (buy-side, sell-side, venue/platform provider).
  • Strong working knowledge of Fidessa GTP or equivalent systems.
  • Proactive, tenacious individual with the ability to solve complex issues.
  • Creative and enthusiastic approach to new or existing challenges.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and bring about positive change.
  • Capable of balancing multiple conflicting priorities and managing stakeholder expectations honestly and appropriately.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of the FIX protocol.
  • Application support experience within a Unix / Linux environment.
  • Familiarity with MSSQL, Oracle, or Sybase database environments, including query-writing.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server environments.
  • Experience in troubleshooting basic network problems (firewall and routing issues).
  • Good working understanding of Python, PERL, and/or bash scripts.
