The Senior Functional Safety Engineer is pivotal in demonstrating advanced technical prowess in safety systems engineering and specifications development. This role demands a high level of professionalism within a collaborative team environment.


Requirements:


  • 10+ years of profound experience in Safety Systems Engineering and Applications Consulting.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Mandatory Functional Safety Certification (TÜV FSE, exida CFSP, or ISA84 SIS Fundamentals). Preferred certifications include exida CFSE or ISA84 SIS Expert or TÜV Rheinland FSExpert.
  • PMP certification preferred.


Core Competencies:


  • Proficiency across safety lifecycle management, encompassing PHA/LOPAs, hazard identification, safeguard allocation, Independent Protection Layers (IPLs), Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), logic narrative development, and SIL Calculations.
  • Experience in developing test and validation procedures is essential.
  • Proficiency in PLC/SIS programming, panel design, and integrating PLC/SIS with DCS and auxiliary PLCs.
  • Skilled in leading commissioning/cutovers, loop checks, logic validation/testing, and providing start-up assistance/troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with SRS document generation using safety lifecycle management software like exSILentia V3/V4, SILSolver, aeShield, or Safety Lifecycle Manager (SLM).
  • Assigned projects are typically 1 to 3 years in duration, based in Houston, Texas client offices.
  • Ensuring compliance with Mangan’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining regular client communication to understand and address concerns and input.
  • Assisting clients and their team members (engineers and operators) in defining project needs to meet requirements and functionality.
  • Operating at a high standard of professionalism within a team, with the ability to lead and motivate team members to achieve project goals.
  • Keeping all necessary certifications and training up to date. Recommending training and staff development for the Sugar Land team.
  • Ensuring adherence to effective Mangan and Client QA/QC processes.


Other Skills/Qualifications:


  • Experience with IPL Assessments, SIL Calculations, Safety Requirement Specs, and Safety Lifecycle Management Software.
  • Proficiency in SLIM Process writing.
  • Experience with SIS/PLC Platforms including Emerson Delta V (CSLS and SLS), Triconex, and/or Yokogawa Prosafe preferred.
