Your Role and Responsibilities

The position operates in a Hybrid work model, primarily based in Houston, TX or Cleveland, OH. This role contributes to the Process Automation Energy Industries, where you will be responsible for:
  • Collaborating closely with clients to design and implement solutions, leveraging feedback to enhance delivery for medium to large-scale complex projects.
  • Executing Safety Instrumented System project deliverables efficiently and on schedule, adhering to specifications, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Providing expert consultancy to clients regarding Functional Safety requirements and system designs.
  • Designing Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) while ensuring compliance with IEC61511/IEC61508/ISA84 standards.
  • Consulting on Safety Requirement Specification documentation.
  • Ensuring project adherence to ABB's Functional Safety Management System and contributing to process enhancements for improved quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Resolving technical challenges both remotely and at client locations domestically and internationally.
  • Designing, testing, and commissioning Automation Enclosures, Control Logic, and Human Machine Interfaces with ABB or third-party Control Systems.
  • Creating and presenting work plans, budgets, and risk assessments.
  • Developing your management capabilities by mentoring entry-level staff.
  • Identifying and implementing standard techniques, procedures, and tools while reporting inefficiencies and proposing improvement opportunities.

Qualifications for the Role
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems and at least 3 years in Functional Safety or Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Strong understanding of engineering techniques, processes, and tools.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to workplace safety guidelines.
  • High self-motivation, curiosity, and eagerness to learn about emerging technologies.
  • Collaborative work style, demonstrating effective communication and leadership skills.
