Formulation Scientist

The Formulation Scientist will work with the Technical, Production and Sales teams to develop custom formulations (nutritional supplements and pharmaceuticals) while performing effective formulation costing, developmental testing, trials, label claims, new product specification establishment ,and regulatory compliance.


Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for performing formulation and process development activities associated with solid and liquid supplements

Prepare all required formulation paperwork.

Preparation of product development reports and product information sheets

Expected to prepare custom formulations requests from customers via Sales as well as in house stock formulations.

Keeping the procurement/ingredient database up to date

  • Sizing and choosing suitable packaging for new products.
  • Support cost saving initiatives obtained from alternative supplier qualification, processing formula changes, and analyzing inventory/logistics options.
  • Work with Production personnel to complete pilot run. Coordinate scale up and supervise first production runs. Coordinate new product launch including transferring formula to production department, determining ultimate processing condition, and refining formula during transition.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, or similar.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience formulating nutritional supplements, bars, protein blends, healthy food products, beverages, tablets, capsules, soft gels, pharmaceuticals, etc.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of Food and Dietary supplement formulations and applications.


Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent math, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong product knowledge, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task, independently manage projects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and take direction from management and supervisors.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, work instructions, software manuals; ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work with and become proficient at Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Basecamp, X3 Software and any other software tools acquired to perform this position’s duties.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.


This is a full-time direct hire job with benefits. This is not a contract job. This job is ON SITE. Not remote. Not Hybrid. Must be authorized to work in the USA. Visa sponsorships are NOT being offered. We offer a generous base salary, annual bonus up to 10% of salary, health insurance, PTO, 401K, and more. Relocation assistance provided on an as-needed basis.
