This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining various environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure all employees' highest level of compliance. Monitors environmental, health, and safety regulations and provides support and leadership to Area Managers to ensure compliance with internal standards and Federal, State, and Local laws.
Key Outputs:
● Provide directions and make decisions regarding all site safety and environmental activities.
● Work together with the site safety team to identify and mitigate site risks.
● Conduct daily, weekly and monthly plant safety, health, and environmental inspections and on-the-job coaching with operations team members.
● Issue permits as required.
● Conduct site construction safety inspections.
● Ensure full compliance with and adherence to site environmental permits.
● Support preparing agency reports, e.g., air, wastewater, SWPPP, spill reporting, etc.
● Training program delivery and implementation. Includes new hire safety training and annual refresher training for all employees on various safety and environmental topics.
● Maintain contractor safety program, including the qualification process, orientation, and safety compliance.
● Provide guidance and leadership to the site to enhance employee safety engagement.
● Maintain OSHA logs.
● Support and drive the Behavior Based Safety Program for the site.
● Conduct risk assessments and recommend risk reduction and control strategies to site leadership.
● Conduct root cause analysis for incidents, accidents, and near misses. Provide corrective actions and lessons learned at the site and corporate level.
● Maintain critical safety and environmental programs throughout site processes.
● Implement continuous improvement programs related to health, safety, and the environment.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
● 3+ years of related experience in a relevant production environment.
● Bachelor's Degree in EHS or related field
● Ability to oversee EHS management systems in production and construction environments, including identification, assessment, control and crisis management.
● Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
● Vital organizational and follow-up skills
● Excellent communication skills
● Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, nationally recognized standards, and guidelines for specialized environmental health and safety functions as required.
