Qualifications:

  • Possess strong understanding of mechanical systems design and installation
  • Skilled in reading and understanding drawings, specifications, and bid documents
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer knowledge that includes Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with estimating programs
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle and manage a variety of tasks


Job Functions:

  • Determine scope of work and contents of the project estimate
  • Partner with subcontractors and vendors to obtain and calculate specific costs of labor, equipment, and material to prepare estimates
  • Maintain positive relationships with engineers, architects, subcontractors, contractors, and vendors, suggesting adjustments as needed to the scope of projects
  • Research previous cost data to prepare bids and assist in the development of guidelines for future estimates
  • Analyze awarded and lost estimates to identify anomalies and opportunities for future improvement


Preferred Certificates/Licenses/Education:

  • College degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, construction management, or building science preferred and/or 5-10 years of experience in the Mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing (or related) industries. Additional trade school certification or internship experience is also beneficial.
