Earned Media Specialist 

 

Position Overview: The Earned Media Specialist at Truscott Rossman will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to secure media coverage and enhance the visibility of our clients. This role will focus on building strong relationships with journalists, identifying media opportunities, and crafting compelling narratives. The position will leverage generative AI tools to optimize media outreach and reporting efforts. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Develop and implement earned media strategies to secure coverage in print, broadcast, and online media. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers. 
  • Identify media opportunities and pitch stories that align with our clients' goals and objectives. 
  • Craft compelling press releases, media pitches, and other communication materials. 
  • Monitor media coverage and analyze the effectiveness of earned media efforts. 
  • Utilize generative AI tools to streamline media outreach and reporting processes. 
  • Collaborate with the content and social media teams to ensure cohesive messaging across all platforms. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in earned media and public relations. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in securing media coverage and building relationships with media professionals. 
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives. 
  • Proficiency in using media monitoring and analysis tools. 
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools and their application in media outreach and reporting. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in public relations and earned media. 

 

Reporting Structure: This role reports to the Director of Public Relations. 

 

Ideal Candidate Profile: A proactive and strategic communicator with a passion for securing media coverage and building strong media relationships. The ideal candidate should have excellent writing and storytelling skills, be proficient in media analysis tools, and have experience using generative AI tools to enhance media outreach efforts. They should be capable of managing multiple projects and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
