Production Planner

Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring production schedules to ensure efficient operations and timely completion of production goals. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with various departments to optimize production processes and resource allocation.
Essential Functions
· Production Planning: Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, inventory levels, stocking agreements, and production capacity.
· Resource Allocation: Ensure optimal use of resources, including labor, equipment, and materials to meet production targets.
· Coordination: Work closely with the production, procurement, maintenance/engineering, and logistics teams to synchronize activities and ensure seamless workflow.
· Monitoring: Track production progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule adherence.
· Communication: Communicate schedule changes and updates to relevant departments and stakeholders in a timely manner.
· Data analysis: Analyze production performance to identify trends, inefficiencies, waste, and opportunities for improvement.
· Reporting: Generate regular reports on production status, schedule adherence and key performance indicators (KPIs.)
· Problem-Solving: Address and resolve scheduling conflicts and production bottlenecks promptly.
· Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all scheduling activities.
· Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management or related field preferred;
Skills
· Strong numerical literacy and able to analyze large and complex sets of data.
· Able to turn data and information into recommendations and conclusion.
· High proficiency in excel.
· Basic knowledge in PowerBI.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Proficiency in production planning software and ERP systems
· Analytical and problem-solving abilities
· Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices
· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Exposure to and interest in production planning, expediting, and scheduling.
· Prior experience in a fast-paced, low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment
· Possess ability to work independently and make critical decisions.
· Ability to work within tight time frames.
Language Skills
· Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English. Interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to write/query reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence.
· Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization without assistance.
Mathematical Skills
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
· Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
