Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic research team at Columbia University. Our lab is an interdisciplinary lab whose goal is to advance the integration of quantitative and experimental research methods in the study of RNA degradation dynamics. The lab has active membership with the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) and the Edward P. Evans Center for Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) Initiative. Overall, the environment has the ideal combination of world-class facilities, resources, and collaborative research opportunities to train the next generation of scientific leaders.
We have a strong focus on dissecting the complexity of the epitranscriptome and RNA degradation dynamics in both normal differentiation and disease-related differentiation systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in computational or molecular biology or a strong background in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) progression.
Key Responsibilities:
(1) Design and conduct high-quality research projects related to the epitranscriptome and RNA degradation dynamics during differentiation.
(2) Analyze and interpret data, with a strong emphasis on computational methods or iPSC-based model systems.
(3) Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, including RNA biologists, bioinformaticians, and clinical researchers.
(4) Present research findings at conferences and seminars.
(5) Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Qualifications:
--PhD in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, or a related field.
--Strong background in computational biology, including experience with bioinformatics tools, statistical analysis, and data visualization, or
--Extensive experience with iPSC technology, including differentiation protocols, disease modeling, and genetic manipulation techniques.
--Proven track record of research excellence, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
--Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
--Experience with high-throughput sequencing data analysis or systems biology approaches (for computational biology candidates).
--Hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas9, flow cytometry, and other models of cellular differentiation (for iPSC/AML candidates).
--Hands-on experience with RNA-related techniques, such as CLIP, protein-RNA interaction experiments, EMSA, and immunofluorescence (for RNA-focused candidates).
