Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Biostatistics

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our interdisciplinary microbiome research program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The successful candidate will work on developing innovative statistical methods and scalable computational algorithms for our unique clinical microbiome database.

The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate with a closely-knit research team consisting of physician-scientists, computational biologists, and wet-lab research technicians. The ideal candidate should possess a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related discipline, with experiences in high-dimensional data, compositional data, longitudinal/survival data, and mixture modeling.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to advance our understanding of microbial associations with patient outcomes, medications, nutrients, or multi-omics, and to answer impactful clinical research questions in a data-driven approach.

The postdoctoral fellow will be co-mentored by Drs. Teng Fei and Li-Xuan Qin for an initial period of two years, with the potential for extension into a third year.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and apply novel statistical methods in our interdisciplinary microbiome research program
  • Collaborate with a closely-knit research team consisting of physician-scientists, computational biologists, and wet-lab research technicians
  • Work on developing innovative high-dimensional statistical methods, scalable computational algorithms, and accessible software packages for our unique clinical microbiome database
  • Advance our understanding of microbial associations with patient outcomes, medications, nutrients, or multi-omics
Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related discipline
  • Experiences in high-dimensional data, compositional data, longitudinal/survival data, and mixture modeling
  • Experiences in high performance computing system and/or statistical software development
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
