The Project Manager (PM) will oversee and manage the development of a new vessel design project. The PM will be responsible for various aspects of project management, including project supervision, stakeholder management, regulatory compliance, financial management, and overall project execution from concept design through shipyard selection and construction. Here are the key points summarizing the purpose and responsibilities:
- Project Management and Supervision: Responsible for leading the development of the vessel design project, ensuring adherence to safety guidelines, and overseeing all facets of project development from design maturity to shipyard negotiations and subcontract management.
- Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, shipyard representatives, ABS, USCG, subcontractors, and corporate leadership. Regular communication and advisory role to clients on project progress and risk areas.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, particularly in handling ammonia and other emerging fuel technologies. Coordinate with ABS and USCG to resolve design and construction issues related to regulatory standards.
- Financial Management: Develop budgets, contribute to financial models, oversee financial reporting and billing related to the project.
- Technical Expertise: Utilize maritime project management, design, engineering, and vessel construction experience to manage complex, first-of-class ship design projects, especially those involving green energy solutions like LNG and ammonia.
- Communication and Reporting: Provide regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders through project status reports, including safety updates, financial updates, risk evaluation/mitigation, and schedule considerations.
- Industry Engagement: Stay informed about emerging regulations related to alternative fuels and emissions standards, ensuring that projects align with industry changes and market strategies.
In summary, the PM role is critical for driving the successful development and construction of complex new build, emphasizing innovation in alternative fuel technologies and regulatory compliance, while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Skills:
8+ Years of combined maritime project management, design, engineering, and/or new vessel construction experience.
Ability to read and comprehend contracts.
Financial acumen to develop budget, develop long-term plans, and contribute to financial models.
Experience working with ABS and USCG to effectively overcome complex regulatory challenges.
Demonstrated history of developing green energy solutions strongly preferred, namely LNG, ammonia, or other similar technologies.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, teaming partners, clients and TOTE
executives.
Comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
Education:
4-year degree or relevant experience in marine transportation, construction management, shipyard
management, naval architecture, or marine engineering.
