Position Overview: The Structural Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the design and analysis of steel structures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and project specifications. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Structural Engineering Supervisor will lead a team of engineers and drafters, manage project timelines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality structural solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structural engineering, particularly with steel structures, and demonstrate strong leadership and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of structural engineers and drafters in the design and analysis of steel structures, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications for steel structures, including beams, columns, trusses, and connections.
- Conduct structural analysis and design using appropriate software tools (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, Tekla) to ensure the safety, stability, and performance of steel structures.
- Review and approve design documents, calculations, and drawings to ensure quality and adherence to project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, construction teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of structural designs into overall project plans.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess structural conditions, monitor construction progress, and address any issues or discrepancies.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures, safety protocols, and best practices in structural engineering and project management.
- Provide mentorship, training, and support to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Stay current with industry trends, advancements in structural engineering, and changes in codes and regulations, and apply this knowledge to improve design practices and project outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; other related materials or engineering degree may be considered
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, but not required
- 8+ of experience in structural engineering with a focus on steel structures.
- Proven experience in supervising and leading engineering teams and managing structural engineering projects.
- Strong proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, Tekla).
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., AISC, Eurocode, ASCE).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to address complex engineering challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy in all work performed.
- Effective project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with construction practices, materials, and methods related to steel structures.
